Design Director
LEGO Digital Play is building a new kind of play experience, and we are looking for a Design Director to help shape and lead it.
This is a role with genuine creative authority and the scope to match. You will define the core experience, setting the vision and making critical decisions on a complex, ambitious product. You will also build and lead the design team that makes it real, hiring great people, setting the bar, and creating the conditions for them to do their best work.

Key Responsibilities
Defines, champions, and owns the design vision - from big ideas to small details
Focuses the team on rapid prototyping to find the fun quickly, and makes bold decisions to move work forward
Builds and leads the design team - hiring, mentoring, and coaching designers to do their best work
Develops and maintains design documentation and frameworks that give the team and partners a shared foundation
Collaborates with leads across engineering, product, and art to align design with technical and product reality
Represents design clearly and confidently across the organisation, from working sessions to senior stakeholder reviews
Qualifications
Must Have:
Extensive experience at Design Director level, with a track record of high-profile launched products
Has owned a product through every phase of development - from the earliest creative spark through to launch and beyond
Proven ability to balance innovation with broad appeal, designing for audiences of tens of millions
A track record of delivering clear, consistent creative direction and managerial feedbackthat elevates others' work
A deep understanding of what makes fun gameplay, and a proven ability to design and iterate toward it
Demonstrated success building and leading design teams - hiring, developing talent, and setting the bar for quality
Deep fluency in design documentation and systems thinking - able to translate creative vision into frameworks others can build from
Forms strong opinions and articulates the reasoning behind them with clarity
Champions great ideas regardless of where they come from, and creates the conditions for everyone on the team to contribute their best thinking
Not afraid to make tough decisions, with the conviction to move work forward in ambiguous conditions
Comfortable operating in a 0-to-1 environment where the path is not yet defined
Experience working with licensed IP or external brand partners
Nice to Have:
Experience with creator-facing tools or UGC systems
Familiarity with AI-assisted design workflows and production tools
Experience planning and managing outsource design partners
