P&C Technology & Payroll Lead
LEGO Digital Play will bring the LEGO® brand into digital entertainment in new, innovative, and wholly-owned ways. Our mission is to ensure the LEGO brand remains as powerfully a part of children’s lives in the coming decades as it has ever been. We aim to reach every kid on the planet, their parents, and adult fans—and provide them with meaningful, magical, and playful new experiences.
We are at the earliest phases of this new company, offering a unique opportunity to build a new entity for the world's most beloved and trusted brand. Our culture is open, collaborative, intellectually rigorous, and creatively vibrant.
As P&C Tech & Payroll Lead at LEGO Digital Play, you will shape the people-technology landscape of a young company from a blank page. You will lead the selection and implementation of the systems that power the employee experience, and design, build and run an in-house payroll function spanning the UK, Denmark and the US.
This role suits someone who has taken people systems and payroll from decision to go-live more than once, who is equally comfortable evaluating vendors and reconciling a payroll run, and who takes genuine pride in getting people paid accurately, on time, every time.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end selection and implementation of the core P&C technology stack — HRIS, payroll and connected people systems — from requirements and vendor evaluation through configuration, launch and adoption.
Design and build an in-house payroll function covering the UK, Denmark and the US, then own the accurate, compliant delivery of every payroll cycle across all three markets.
Own the integrations and data flows between people, payroll, finance and benefits systems, keeping employee data accurate, secure and reportable end to end.
Establish payroll and systems processes, controls and documentation that stand up to audit and scale as the company grows.
Partner with Finance, Legal and external advisers on statutory reporting, tax, pensions and benefits compliance in each market.
Identify opportunities to streamline existing P&C processes through system enhancements, automation, and workflow optimisation — not just by deploying AI agents, but improving the underlying process design so that automation works reliably at scale.
Understand the opportunities created by AI automation and agentic AI, and champion data privacy, security, and the governance structures that ensure data integrity across all people systems.
Act as the internal expert and first point of support for P&C systems, enabling the wider People & Culture team through training, clean administration and clear guidance.
Must Have:
A track record of leading multiple end-to-end P&C/HR system implementations — across more than one platform — from selection through configuration, launch and adoption (such as Workday or HiBob).
Demonstrated success implementing payroll systems and bringing payroll in-house.
Deep, hands-on expertise running UK payroll in-house, including HMRC reporting, pensions auto-enrolment and year-end processes.
Experience building functions in an early-stage or scaling company environment.
Experience running or overseeing payroll in a global capacity across multiple countries.
Strong command of employee data management, integrations and reporting across connected systems.
A rigorous, controls-minded way of working, with clear documentation and an eye for detail under deadline.
Nice to Have:
Background in gaming or technology companies.
Working familiarity with Danish and/or US payroll and statutory requirements.
